When I look back on my journey, I see how a simple belief in hard work and perseverance transformed not only my life but also the lives of thousands around me. From a humble beginning in Amreli, Gujarat, to building a global enterprise and supporting communities through education and healthcare, this path has been as rewarding as it has been challenging.
In 1968, I stepped into the diamond industry in Surat with little more than determination and a hunger to learn. Those initial years were tough, but they taught me invaluable lessons in discipline, resilience, and innovation. In 1972, Laxmi Diamond was born—a venture that started small but grew into a global name, built on a foundation of trust, ethical practices, and a commitment to excellence.
Success in business is fulfilling, but the true measure of one’s life is in the positive change we bring to others. This belief led to the establishment of the Gajera Trust in 1993. Since then, our mission has been simple: to provide opportunities where there were none before.
Through initiatives like Vatsalyadham, a home for orphaned children, and Shantabaa General Hospital & Medical College, a healthcare institution for underserved communities, we’ve been able to touch thousands of lives. Whether it’s giving a child access to education or ensuring a family receives quality healthcare, these moments remind me of the power of purpose-driven work.
Over the years, I’ve learned a few lessons that I hold close to my heart:
Today, as I reflect on my journey, I am filled with gratitude—for the opportunities I’ve had, the people I’ve worked with, and the communities I’ve been able to support. But the work is far from done. Together, we must continue to build a future where education and healthcare are not privileges but fundamental rights.
